Thursday nights on Cartoon Network will become a lot more dramatic with the new animated reality series Total Drama Island from CAKE distribution. The animated series involves a group of spirited teen characters who sign up to star on a new reality series for a $100,000 prize.  Twenty-two teens are sent to Camp Wawanakwa, the oldest, moldiest, most run-down, bug-infested summer camp.  Here, they endure a summer of leaky cabins, terrible food and increasingly insane challenges.  Only one contestant can win—the rest walk the dreaded Dock of Shame.  Tensions run high, love is in the air and the cameras will be there to catch it all.  The series is accompanied by an interactive Web site where users can read about the show’s characters, create their own Total Drama Island avatar, get downloads, and play games that relate to that week’s on-air challenges.  The drama begins Thursday, June 5, at 9 p.m. (ET, PT).

Total Drama Island features 22 compellingly different teens, including a deluded wannabe, a jock who is awful at sports, a fun-loving party guy, a Goth loner, a juvenile delinquent, a gentle giant, a geek, a dweeb, a princess, a weight-lifting female bully, a soulful surfer girl, a couple of clueless BFFs (best female friends) and a Queen Bee.  They are stuck together in a run-down summer camp cabin for eight weeks.  These are kids who would not even acknowledge one another in the halls at school, and now they find themselves stuck together 24/7.  The only thing they have in common is that they are city kids who don’t have a hope of surviving alone in the wilderness, and they all came to win.

Now, stuck in the woods with no access to the outside world, these teens must learn to work as a team and watch their backs.  Will they ever open up to one another and become friends, or will they step on each other to win? 

Each episode of Total Drama Island will feature two teams dueling in different challenges.  After each episode viewers can go to www.TotalDramaIsland.com to play a new game based on that week’s episode challenge.  While online, fans can also become campers at Camp Wawanakwa by creating their own Total Drama Island avatar that can be customized.  Visitors will be able to have free reign of the camp and learn more about the other Total Drama Island campers.         

With their own avatars, fans can also collect marshmallows that can be exchanged for cool accessories for their camper or exclusive digital downloads like Total Drama Island screensavers or wallpaper.  All visitors to the Total Drama Island site can play the weekly games, but for those who create an avatar, each week’s highest game score will be recorded and added to the Total Drama Island leader board.  At the end of the season, one winner will be chosen at random to have his or her avatar appear in the final episode of Total Drama Island.
