WALLY DALLENBACH Biography TURNER SPORTS
• Dallenbach serves as an analyst for TNT’s 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series coverage, joining analyst Kyle Petty and play-by-play announcer Bill Weber in the booth. This year marks his eighth season as a TNT NASCAR announcer, calling races for both NBC and TNT from 2001-2006 and exclusively for TNT beginning in 2007.
• Dallenbach’s status as an active driver distinguishes him from other analysts and his contributions to the broadcast are often based on his recent experiences on the track.
• Each week during the TNT telecasts, Dallenbach hosts the “Wally’s World” in which he takes celebrities for a race around the track to capture their reactions inside the racecar.
CAREER
• Just before his broadcast career began in 2001, Dallenbach drove the No. 33 car for the injured Joe Nemecheck at the Pocono 500. On several occasions, Dallenbach drove in a NASCAR race just following his television rehearsals.
• He ran his first NASCAR event in 1991 for Junie Donlavey. From there he drove for Jack Roush, Richard Petty, Bud Moore, Felix Sabates and Rick Hendrick.
• Dallenbach competed in 226 Cup races throughout his career. His best finishes came at Watkins Glen, where he placed second in 1993 and 1995. He had 11 top-10 finished in 1994, while racing for Petty Enterprises.
• He enjoyed a successful career prior to his Cup endeavors by winning the 24 Hours of Daytona four times, the 12 Hours of Sebring three times and the Sports Car Club of America Trans-Am series championships in 1985 and '86.
PERSONAL
• Dallenbach, who grew up in Basalt, Colorado, owns a tank on his San Antonio, TX ranch and once used it for a prank, firing empty rounds at Rusty Wallace’s shop.
• Dallenbach is also noted for his big game hunting around the world, for which he has a large collection of trophies. He also is currently the host of Track & Trail Adventures with Wally Dallenbach on Outdoor Network.
