Turner Ramps Up Its Affiliate Promotions

Turner Network Sales, the distribution division of Turner Broadcasting, is ramping up its affiliate promotions in the third and fourth quarters around the MLB Postseason on TBS, season 12 of truTV’s buzzy series World’s Dumbest…and season four of the popular Cartoon Network series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Turner will implement three separate turnkey local market affiliate promotions that will pepper the country this fall, visiting high-traffic areas in 38 cities across the United States, partnering with the major cable MSO in each market.
“These promotions provide tremendous value to our affiliate partners by bringing them engaging, experiential opportunities with strong, recognizable brands,” said Heather Baldino, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Revenue Integration for Turner Network Sales, the domestic distribution, sales and marketing arm of Turner Broadcasting. “The strength of these brands coupled with the entire promotional package delivers engagement across the board – not only as a partnership opportunity for our affiliates, but also as an interactive, entertaining experience for a wide range of their customers.”
Ramping up their support of Major League Baseball airing on TBS this fall, Turner will bring its “MLB Postseason on TBS Bobblehead Tour” to eight cities in September in order to capitalize on the building excitement for the postseason airing on TBS beginning Sept. 30. Baseball fans can get their photo taken with Postseason Pete, a 12-foot bobblehead statue decked out in the home teams’ uniform, test their skills in the batting cage and try their luck with the pitching machine, as well as receive co-branded prizes and premiums. The tour will visit at eight MLB games throughout the month of September, including stops in Cincinnati, Detroit, Milwaukee and St. Louis.
Promoting one of Cartoon Network’s most popular series, Turner will once again bring its Star Wars: The Clone Wars TAKEOVER promotion to 10 markets beginning in September. The promotion, which will visit high-traffic family friendly venues in each city, will consist of a green screen photo opp with fan favorite characters, a co-branded prize wheel where fans can have a chance to win Star Wars premiums, including Star Wars Ultimate FX Lightsabers donated by Hasbro, and a meet and greet with the heroic Clone Troopers. Star Wars: The Clone Wars premieres its fourth season on Friday, Sept. 16, with a one-hour special event beginning at 8 pm ET/PT.
To promote the new season of truTV’s series World’s Dumbest…, which will premiere in October, Turner is taking the show on the road with the “Play Dumb truPIDITY Event,” a live game show experience based on the popular truPIDITY online game on Fans can test their trivia skills by watching clips from World’s Dumbest… in order to win truTV-branded prizes. The promotion will visit 20 targeted truTV markets across the country at high-traffic venues such as concerts, malls, festivals and sporting events, including stops in Memphis, Atlanta and Boston.
