Los Angeles Clippers Win NBA Social Media Award in “Fan Nation” Category 2013 NBA Social Media Awards presented by SAP – Wednesday, June 12, at 8 p.m. ET –
to be Co-Hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Rocsi Diaz; Warriors’ guard Stephen Curry to provide in-studio contributions
NBA TV announced today that the Los Angeles Clippers (@LAClippers) are the recipient of the “Fan Nation” Award for their increase in social engagement with fans across social media during the 2012-13 NBA season. The “Lob City” duo of guard Chris Paul and forward Blake Griffin continued to expand the team’s social profile this season with their volume of shared video highlights, photos and other related content across social platforms.
The “Fan Nation” Award is the only award that will be presented prior to NBA TV’s telecast of the second annual NBA Social Media Awards presented by SAP airing Wednesday, June 12, at 8 p.m. ET. The remaining winners will be announced during the live show, which recognizes some of the best moments from the 2012-13 NBA regular season that resonated with fans and generated the most social interaction.
Chris Webber (@realchriswebber) will be joined by Entertainment Tonight correspondent Rocsi Diaz (@rocsidiaz) to co-host this year’s show, along with live in-studio correspondent and Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry (@StephenCurry30). Diaz serves as the weekend co-host and daily correspondent for the entertainment show Entertainment Tonight. Prior to joining Entertainment Tonight, Diaz was the co-host of BET’s music show 106 & Park.
The NBA Social Media Awards presented by SAP will be divided into various categories recognizing social activity across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and more. Along with returning awards such as The BIG (Best In The Game) Award and The LOL (Laugh out Loud) Award, new categories this year include:
- #Trendsetter Award for the player that displayed the best sense of style via social media;
- The 140 Award for the player with the most impressive tweet of the year;
- The OMG Award for the team with the best video shared via social;
- The Social Rook of the Year Award for the rookie with the biggest increase in popularity across
social media platforms.
Additionally, voting for The Social Slam Award, which recognizes the favorite dunk during the regular season, will remain open on Twitter during the show with the winner announced live. SAP will also feature a ‘Beyond the Numbers’ on-air enhancement in connection with the FTW (For the Win) award. The NBA TV crew will discuss their picks for the most clutch players in the league supported by stats available on NBA.com/Stats with insights from SAP.
